Moms Who Kick for Breast Cancer

The Moms Who Kick for Breast Cancer Research project was launched by Joanne Hutchins in 2008 after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The organization produced its first calendar in 2009 featuring ten black-and-white photos of 10 moms, all of them over 40 and "very fit." These women represent not only the age at which women should get their first mammogram but also strength and empowerment portrayed by their fitness. To show our support for the organization, Lonnys worked with Moms Who Kick for Breast Cancer to put on a dinner and fashion show at Four Food Studio in Melville, NY on Feb 11, 2010. While guests, who paid $60 each, dined on a gourmet dinner, 19 calendar moms strutted down the runway in our fashions. Altogether the fashion show event raised about $5,000, bringing the Moms Who Kick for Breast Cancer's 2010 fundraising efforts to about $25,000.
